Sabah Only Orchestra - Daily Express 03 Jan 2005


Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Chong kah Kiat commending Sabah’s only orchestra, the 120-strong Kota Kinabalu symphony Orchestra, for a fine performance during its New Year concert held at the Tun Mustapha Auditorium, in Kota Kinabalu, on Saturday, Chong who is also Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, also announced that the orchestra would perform in the scenic Simpang Mengayau in April as apart of the State’s tourism promotion campaign. The orchestra under the chairmanship of Liaw Lam Thye was also encourage to put up a Christmas performance end of this year. Accompanying the orchestra during Sunday’s concert was the 70-member Tenom and Keningau Children Choir under guest conductor from Hong Kong, Frankie Wai, Picture should Chong and wife Ivy receiving souvenirs.
